Since then he's gone on to receive 17 ARIA Award nominations, including Single of the Year, Best Male Artist and Best Pop Release, and won Highest Selling Single ARIA Awards for "Angels Brought Me Here" and the Eve collaboration "Who's That Girl". He's also recorded with the likes of Mya, John Mayer, Jordin Sparks, Lionel Richie and the original Stax Records house band, while other musicians such as Brian McKnight and Robin Thicke have written songs for him. All of his albums have received either platinum or multi-platinum accreditations, making him one of the most successful popstars in Australian history. In addition, he's performed for Queen Elizabeth II, Pope Benedict XVI, Oprah Winfrey and the entire viewership of American Idol when Simon Cowell invited him to perform on the show in 2004. He has toured with the likes of Taylor Swift (when he served as her Australian opening act for the Australian leg of the Red Tour in 2014), Michael Bublé and Shane Filan of Westlife. He has performed duets with a wide variety of artists, including Lee Kernaghan, Ronan Keating, Olivia Newton-John and Delta Goodrem (who he was compared to early in his career and who he counts as one of his closest personal friends). He's even had his songs covered by the likes of Wayne Brady.
Apart from his music career, he also served as a judge and mentor on The X Factor Australia from 2010 to 2012 and 2015, winning twice with Samantha Jade and Reece Mastin. From 2019 onwards, he has served as a judge and coach on the Australian edition of The Voice (even surviving a Channel Hop from the Nine Network to the Seven Network).
2010 two CD collection from the Aussie singer/songwriter, best known as the winner of the first Australian Idol competition. Over the last ten years, Guy has released five Top 5 albums and Twenty Ten is a retrospective of Guy's incredible musical career during this period. It features some of his greatest songs including 'Angels Bought Me Here' which is the highest selling single of the decade and his #1 smash hit 'Like It Like That'. Disc One, Twenty, features 18 of Guy's hits plus two new tracks including the single 'Who's That Girl' which was produced by Dre and features Eve as a special guest vocalist. Disc Two, Ten, features 10 acoustic versions of Guy's favorite tracks such as 'Elevator Love' and 'Out with My Baby'.
The second album was called "Beautiful Life" and was released in October 2004. It included "Forever with You", a duet with American R&B singer Mya and the lead single "Out With My Baby" which debuted at number one on the popular music charts.
Guy performed at the 2004 ARIA Music Awards where he received the award for the Highest Selling Single for "Angels Brought Me Here", and the Channel V (music channel) Oz Artist of the Year Award. He was also nominated for Highest Selling Album for "Just as I Am".
The next album was "Closer to the Sun", which was a mix of pop, R&B, soul, pop-rock and jazz and mainly co-written with other Australian musicians. The single released from the album "Taller, Stronger, Better" debuted on the charts at number three in August 2006, and achieved gold status immediately. The album went on to reach number four on the charts while the next single release "Elevator Love" went as high as number 11 and went gold also.
In late 2007 Guy decided to record an album in Memphis USA with the veteran rock musicians Booker T and the MG's. "The Memphis Album" was released in November and immediately went to number 3 on the charts and was the seventh highest selling Australian album of the year.
The critically acclaimed album reached double platinum in 2008 and perhaps most importantly gained the attention of the American music press. Several newspapers in the Memphis area wrote a series of articles about Guy recording with The MGs while the radio station 'All Memphis Music', which specialises in playing music originating from Memphis, began playing "The Memphis Album" songs in late December 2007. They also aired two special programs featuring songs from the album and interviews with some of the people involved in recording it.
By now Guy Sebastian had achieved the most number one singles for an Australian male artist in Australian music history, and is third overall for all Australian acts with only Kylie Minogue and Delta Goodrem having achieved more.
The fourth single "Get Along", a song about religious, cultural and racial intolerance got to number five on the popular music charts and was Guy's 11th top ten single in Australia, and ninth to reach the top five.
And so the glittering achievements continue for this truly great Australian artist. Even with all the chart success, gold and platinum records, music awards, television fame, national recognition and international acclaim, Guy Sebastian's feet have always remained firmly on the ground.
His is a continuing story as each year brings with it further success and further glory as an artist with a remarkable talent - a genuinely gifted singer, songwriter and performer and one of the greatest of Australian musicians.
Since their formation at the University of Pennsylvania in 1995, Philadelphia jam band The Disco Biscuits have generated an almost cult-like following. Besides releasing countless EPs and LPs, the group has also put together music festivals, such as the annual Camp Bisco, and a studio previously owned by DJ Jazzy Jeff to help out up-and-coming artists in the greater Philadelphia area. The four-piece band will be doing a handful of shows this summer, including a three-day stint at Irving Plaza in Manhattan from June 12 through 14. 2ff7e9595c
